DUSU-AN IMPORTANT ELECTION (DELHI)

Hey! After a long time, I am writing a blog. This time I have brought up a very interesting topic ( I guess!!) and that is DUSU election. Most of y’ll from Delhi can describe this very easily. This election taking place in September drives street of Delhi university WILD AND CROWD-BOUNCE!!
First of all, let me expand DUSU! It stands for DELHI UNIVERSITY STUDENT`S UNION.
DUSU is a representative body of students from most colleges and faculties of Delhi University as Delhi university consists of a large number of colleges and faculties like Law Center - II, (Faculty of Law, North Campus, University Of Delhi), Faculty Of Management Studies, etc. The campus really goes crazy in the very first week of September as the time is for DUSU election. Delhi has 70 MLA's, 7MPs and only 1 president of DUSU. Winning DUSU is like being in power politically.
Now, let me tell you all what-are-the keys for standing in DUSU election:-
1) A student must attend 75% attendance.
2) A student should not have a history of previous DUSU election record.
3) For running a campaign, one can only spend INR 5000.
4) One is not allowed to play the caste card things.
The conditions are boring ..but hey these are the rules stamped by Supreme Court (must be implemented, duh!)
Leaving those above conditions, it is very applied thing that three parts play a major role to win and stand in DUSU election.

And those are CASTE, MONEY POWER, AND MANPOWER!
After fulfilling the above conditions and having the factors, one can easily stand in DUSU election. There are many activities that should run if you want to win the election. Money which is spent is around 1-2 crores. The money is spent in various parts like most-of-all in the posters with the amount of 4-5 lakhs. B-the-major, to win the election, you need the votes of students, THE CROWD!
The truth is none cares about whether a candidate wins or lose because what they really want is the fulfillment of their demands. Some students demand the weeds, drugs and should be given to them, some demands travel allowance and budget and some demands house party, college party, etc. Everyone is Nude in the society because haha the one having money can buy a person and the person gets ready to be sold to the person having money and power :) SAD REALITY! Since its a DUSU election, fights, cars crashes and bullets firing are common. To control all those, we need strong bouncers in the certain party and the money is spent for that too. Talking about the caste factor if you are Gujjars, Rajput and Yadav you have the high chance to win standing in DUSU election! Yes, because politics came from caste (they say !)
Everyone who works for the candidate shouts in the street to vote for their party. Many posters are distributed to the students to vote for their candidate. After analyzing, the administration makes a final list of the participating candidates on 6th of the September. After that, within a week around, the DUSU election is held.

The counting of the votes starts at 8:30 am. Mostly, the student wings of parent parties like NSUI (Congress’s Nation Student Union of India), Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP), etc stands as a candidate for DUSU election.
Talking about 2017, NSUI candidates Rocky Tuseed won the post of president, while Kunal Sehrawat won Vice President post. ABVP's Mahamedhaa Nagar got the secretary post. Uma Shankar won Joint Secretary.
For the election, preparation starts before a year itself. Many students are collected and groups are created. the budgets are allocated and are distributed in particular areas. So, for 2018, who wins the heart of the student and wins DUSU?? hmm… //HAVE TO WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER ;). So, if you are part of DU, do participate in, if you are really interested in this political criteria and yes! guess what- who really knows that you may be one who will stand next in the future!!
