After waking up in lazy Sunday, I just refreshed myself and was just using my youtube. Youtube recommended me one video. It was clearly titled "Virginity Test".I was just like, umm hm... never heard such !!. I saw this video clearly over repeating and came to know the dark side of the culture of many countries like Indonesia, India,etc. Let me open what actually is Virginity Test.
According to the definition given by Wikipedia, Virginity Test is ( yaar uhh let me copy-paste this whole definition since I don't have in my mind the fullest Lolx Lolx):

"A virginity test is a practice and process of determining whether a person, usually a female, is a virgin; i.e., to determine that she has never engaged in, or been subjected to, sexual intercourse"
I think this is a perfect definition by Wikipedia. Also, I am not feminist, neither I am trying to be next great women of the century.I am writing a blog and I am just keeping my views on them.so of course, I am totally against it. I am against such culture which is very embarrassing for women and her family. Okay, let's move ahead more about the topic.
The procedure of this test goes this way: In the wedding night, the couple have sex in white cloth and the caste council oversees the test. Both families of husband and wife pay Rs. 300 even the larger amount is paid to the panchayat. The family keeps waiting outside the lodge. And the results go by two remarks: "MAAL KHARRA HAY" (a girl is pure) and "MAAL KHOTA HAI"(a girl is not pure because she had premarital sex). If the result turns out to be that the girl is pure then it's okay, in other cases, family beats that girl, her family is excluded as good social family and they are asked to pay a large amount of fine to settle the matter.whoever is against of this kanjarbhat law, they are declared as socially boycott. Even many families tried to go against it and as a result, their family discards them and they are even not allowed to participate in social functions taking place in the community.

The bleeding is said to happen if the hymen is torn off and if the sex is not the first time then, hymen since already broken doesn't make women bleed. This is the belief of many people in countries of central Asia like Pakistan, India, Nepal. But there are ven other reasons why hymen is torn off and the examples are:
1) hymen breaks due to the activities like playing sports, riding a bike and doing some heavy activities and other strenuous activities.
2) Hymen wearing off because of using tampons during menstruation.
Actually, bleeding has nothing to do with Virginity. There is no medium to asses the women virginity.
In Indonesia, women who want to be a police officer should take a virginity test. Why a woman should be a virgin to be a police officer? Once a woman after virginity test said that the room was not closed and the 20 candidates saw whatever happened when a private scene was going on. Even CNN news has commented and criticized about this Indonesia's virginity test.
Hey peeps! we should grow up as a century is growing. Please, let's stop this because it is the point of some serious issue. I have only researched very few of them but you can see many other practices going on throughout the world.

ReplyDeleteOfcourse girls do have their own say. They can do whatever they want to, so no such test should be done. They should be accepted in the society, the way they want to be.
